Landlords - we are ready to arrange your EPC
28 July 2008
From October 1st 2008, all rental properties with a new tenancy in England and Wales will be required to have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) by law.
What is an EPC?
EPCs look similar to the energy labels found on domestic appliances such as fridges or washing machines. The energy efficiency and environmental impact of a property is rated by a Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) and receives an energy efficiency rating, ranging from A to G (where A is the most efficient and G the least efficient).
Current running costs for heating, hot water and lighting will also be shown on the certificate, together with a list of recommended energy-saving measures. EPCs remain valid for 10 years and you can be fined £200 for non-compliance.
We are ready to go!
Holmes Pearman already has an arrangement with a leading local DEA in readiness for the October 1st launch date. If you are thinking of letting your property, rest assured that we have the tools to organise your EPC quickly and efficiently at an extremely competitive price.
